Wushu-Your CCA of choice
"At Mjc Wushu, our mission is to promote Wushu as a scintillating and robust CCA. With the aim of nurturing self-discipline and creating close kin relations among members through a spectrum of activities."
With this in mind, our CCA aim to create a safe, fun, and supportive environment for everyone to enjoy the benefits of martial arts:

In Wushu, we firmly believe that our members should excel in both academic work and CCA. As such, the “meridian lion” on our emblem symbolizes our member’s ability to attain academic excellence in whatever course they may pursuit. The Chinese character at the back meaning “Martial” translates into discipline and skill, a trait of which all our members should aim to have.
History
The Meridian Wushu team was first established in the year 2006 solely by Mrs Jerene Tay who became the first teacher-in charge for the MJC Wushu team. The team started off as a small group with only a few experienced Wushu members. However, with constant determination and hard work, our Meridian Wushu boy’s team emerged as Overall ‘A’ Division Champion in the National Inter-Schools Wushu Championships during our very first year. This was indeed a significant stepping stone to our subsequent success in these past few years. With high expectations, our Boys team clinched a 1st runner up and Champion status in year 2007 and 2008 respectively. Alongside, our Girls team managed to break a title for themselves by getting 1st runner up just recently during the year 2008. This was an undeniably a great achievement for a considerably young CCA in the college. Today, the MJC Wushu team is renowned for being a top-notch CCA in

What makes Wushu different from other CCAs?
For starters, it’s a practical world out there that views CCAs as a mean of gaining a decent testimonial for your future university life. Wushu as one of the top five niches CCA in MJC ensures you the “golden testimonial” that you have always wanted.
Unlike other sports, failure to get into the school team does not signify that your testimonial would be any less glamorous. It is because of this very reason, that our team has created “sub-committees”, to allow members that are not involved in competitions to also take up key leadership positions and to initiate and organise events, of which is also recorded under the testimonial. Few egs are, CIP com, website com and our publicity com. Members, who aspire to do more, may also run for EXCO, for further leadership developments.
Our CCA also offer valuable overseas exchange programmes to allow members to hone their skills and train with the best in the world. Other than that, it is also a wonderful avenue for members to have fun and bond together.
To top it off, no trials are needed! We value and appreciate every member that wishes to learn this sport, and aims to realise your inner potential for wushu. Currently new programmes are being revised to enhance your learning!
As the fastest growing CCA in MJC, it is indeed remarkable that we have achieved so much in such a short span of time. This year, wushu hopes to contribute in getting the sustained achievement award by getting into the top 4 in this year’s interschool competition. Wushu guarantees you an unforgettable experience that will last a lifetime. So don’t wait, join us in creating history!
Hi freshmen!

Capricorn (21/12-20/1)
The Capricorn personality is very grounded in reality; it's the rock that everyone else loves to lean on. For the most part, Capricorns are quietly strong-willed and self-assured. They truly know who they are, so they are comfortable in any social situation they choose to participate in. Although Caps sometimes have a reputation as being a bit stodgy, they often astound their companions with their sharp and sudden wit.
Caps are highly dependable, yet they can still suffer inwardly from mood swings that carry them from the heights of euphoria to bouts of depression. In most cases, they are adept at concealing these conflicting moods in public. It is only their closest friends and family that are given a glimpse
Caps make excellent friends, and their loyalty is without question if they take you under their wing. However, woe to any friend that betrays them. Caps have long memories, and they make daunting enemies to those who are foolish enough to mistreat.
To end off.........A BIRTHDAY SONG!!!!!!
Serious....no racist intentions made...... if any gonvernment body is secretly reading this post..dun sue me.
Mjc wushu team
Hi,
I understand that many people are dreading the year of 2009, due to various reasons. But this is what I have to say to the whole team….
This year is not going to be an easy one for us as a competitive CCA, however when faced with an overwhelming difficult situation, be it your opponents, upcoming examinations or mountain of tutorials….remind yourself that success is simply the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out. As such, the greatest results in life are usually attained by simple means and the exercise of ordinary qualities best summed by perseverance and hard work. Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal. Vice versa, nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. Therefore, in face of the upcoming adversities I urge all to keep steadily before you the fact realise that all true success depends at last upon yourself. We cannot change the fact that other schools might be significantly stronger so much that they pose an enormous threat, surely there is something in the unruffled calm of nature that overawes our little anxieties and doubts. However, what I wish to highlight is to not waste your life in doubts and fears, but to spend yourself on the work before you. Be well assured that the right performance of this hour's duties will be the best preparation for the hours or ages that follow it.
Albert Careb once quoted that, “In the midst of winter, I found there was within me an invincible summer.” With utmost sincerity, I hope that every member of the MJC wushu team finds his/her own summer in this seemingly difficult year of 2009. Press on! A better fate awaits!
p.s: hope anyone that is reading gets my message, or I will look stupid. Haha

MOVIE REVIEW: IP MAN
Filled with lots of actions and lots of moral education about Wushu, it is indeed a fantastic and a 'must-watch' movie especially if you are a Wushu-learner! The movie was generally about Ip Man, a Chinese martial artist who practised Yong Chun. The movie is not very draggy or boring. In fact, it is filled with lots of action scenes which make the movie quite exciting. You are also able to learn some values about Wushu and realise that Wushu is not just about fighting. It is definitely worth your ticket money to watch this show. For more details, you may wish to visit this website, http://www.ipman-movie.com/ or better still, JUST GO WATCH THE MOVIE!
You may also visit the website to find out more about Master Ip Man and the origins of Yong Chun. Its very educational.

May you stay pretty forever and wish that you that you'll be flooded with lots of gifts and friends! Stay happy and once again, Happy Birthday!
A Short Introduction about Ru Jin
Ru Jin is definitely one of MJC Wushu most efficient secretary ever! She is also the REACH vice-chairperson! Despite having MANY MANY MANY other committments in the college, she is able to manage her time very well. Being a very caring, friendly and easy-going girl made her a great team player! (In fact, I've never see her getting angry before. Hehe~) She is someone whom you can really trust and there is no doubt that she is indeed a good friend. With a SUPER DUPER kind heart, Ru Jin was involved in COUNTLESS community involvement activities and her contributions were recognised by the college by awarding her with the Meridian Junior College's MOST OUTSTANDING STUDENT VOLUNTEER AWARD 2007/08! WOW! She has indeed did the Meridian Wushu Team proud!
